i used this crap with a 120gb maxtor sata disk mounted on a asus a7v600 motherboard (onboard via sata).ok, i tried once and didn't worked (the system worked pretty bad), so i uninstalled. later, i thought it deserve a second chance. i tried it again and this time was even worse. not only it hanged with all programs as it did before, but after uninstalling it and rebooted as requested, my windows never started again (bsod). no errors on uninstalling or anything like that, but seemed to messed the "system" registry, no luck with last known good configuration or chkdsk on recovery console or anything (it fixed some corruption, but couldn't make windows start again). this crap killed my windows xp. these toy is not only bad, but extremly dangerous. it's seems not to be a beta, but pretty early microsoft alpha crap. maxtor, please keep making good hard disk and forget the software.

what is the point of this if you have to do everything manually? i want something that will scan the meta tags and get the art for them for me.

i really like this program and i use it a lot. but once again betanews has forgotten to mention that it also support windows 7. and here is a list from 7-zips own site about the systems 7-zip supports: 7-zip works in windows 7 / vista / xp / 2008 / 2003 / 2000 / nt / me / 98. that's all folks.

amazing compression ratio. able to add a recovery record. format is supported in peazip. moderately fast when used for maximum compression, but slower than winrar and 7zip. uses no more than 2gb of memory and doesn't come anywhere close to 100% processor load for maximum compression. with a little gui polish this could be the best file compressor ever.i had over a hundred multi gigabyte files that needed to be compressed and i wasn't happy with the compression of the most popular file compression programs, so i decided to try this. it's not the fastest, but there are very few programs that can come close to its compression ratio and fewer that are as fast at their highest setting. on my intel core i5 over-clocked to 3.42ghz, 3.6ghz with turbo mode enabled and 8gb of memory, i'm able to compress 7.3gb in 35 minutes flat. the highest compression ratio i achieved was an .iso 7.3gb (6.656gb without random padding) compressed to 2.181gb (29.9% compression). i didn't even think that was possible. the average for an .iso was 77% compression, but it depends on the file.thank you so much.

tried this and take zridings point, its frontpage with a dress on. good for the hobbyist, with css and asp intergration on the whole very good. but, microsoft is trying to phase fp extensions out and this i am sorry to say relys on - amongst other things , fp extns.good product but missed the boat with its sorry predessor hiding in its coded wings.

over the years i've tried different versions of this search tool, and have spent 3 or 4 hours trying to use it from different computers, and for different search scenarios. cons:> no built in fileviewer> only search by filename, and not file contents (no full text search!!)> doesn't search network shares.> ui very limited, and in my opinion basically unusable.> http/etp/ftp server functionality (wasted too much time trying to get this working properly on multiple servers and workstation). also this server is a *sizable* security hole (not a good idea to add a server into an application, unless you want malware and hackers getting in).> installs user data into c:\programs files\, which skirts development practices for vista, win7 and win8. > other issues: no autoupdate mechanism, esc closes the application (another bad development practice), etc.pros:> free (better search tools exist: google (ok), microsoft (ok- for searching lots of text files), locate32 (ok+), and mo-search (the only one i use every day) > options dialog provides lots of checkboxes (don't improve my search experience)> people seem to download this, and i surmise some like it (not sure why)every year or two i'll really spend time testing a bunch of desktop search tools. but (thus far) they all frustrate, and prevent me from finding what i need, and lack an integrated fileviewer, lack truly ranked results, and lack common search filtering capabilities. the only one i run on all my workstations and servers is mo-search (also free).

it's alright but i'll stick with directory opus. tc needs a real gui overhaul!
