here we go again. new version, new problems with things that used to work.all the 12.x releases have regressed with their flash performance. flash videos smear down the page when scrolling.sites that worked in 11.64 and 12.01 don't work here. also be warned that the bookmark star(address bar) instant crash is backon the bright side, it does feel quite a bit snappier. i know it's an early alpha but this new pattern of releasing broken major versions only to try and address them in a maintenance build soon after is not something i am enjoying having to deal with@zeropoint, major releases that became finals have been rather piss poor. 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12 were major releases that in "stable" form were anything but. the maintenance releases that followed them corrected some things that should have been in the finals in the first place. this alpha is heading in the same direction of breaking things while adding new "buggy" features. testing new things is fun but having things that worked before break is not very progressive. most people who are testing opera over at the blog are still using 11.64 as their main browser yet the opera team is moving towards another major release in an already broken version
installed windows 8 on vmware player. works great, vmware player that is running on linux mint machine. you know what, you can keep windows 8. although it is fast even for a windows os, is stinks as far as productivity and getting to and working on applications. it's all show and not much for customization.
actually the version is 6.2.287 and not 6.1.287. the major improvement in this version is the addition of font embedding.
will not install either over a previous version or alone.
like a previous reviewer, i'm struck oddly---and negatively---by the fact that this software transcodes from wavpack, yet can't encode it. i also wonder why speex support is omitted, given that all other audio formats under the xiph.org umbrella are supported.i've often looked for a more modern replacement for the venerable deadware multi-frontend, and this could be it, but only if and when it can encode wavpack, which long ago replaced flac as my lossless format of choice.
after a good tryout, i'm sticking with norton av 2013 for the next six months which i got for free.norton significantly increases start-up time but once loaded seems to run very lightly and has minimal impact on resources. it has a nice new metro-like interface. constant updates.most reputable test sites rate norton very highly - usually in the top 3 av's.
another great release!some of you might not find a need for this. but, if you are like me, and use your pc as a recording studio, constantly changing volume levels for what you are doing, then this will save you sooo much time, and you will wonder how you lived w/out it. check on their website, they might still be intersted in testers. i know i visited their site not too long ago and they were still looking.. if you e-mail them they might give you a free registration code. they did me, i think i was one of the first testers.. about 2 years ago and the code is still good. they are really great people, anytime you e-mail them, about problems, suggestions, or anything they get right back to you. when you register is when it is really the best. cause you can make your own hotkey configs, like i have one for recording... for when i'm ready to lay down a track, i have one for mixing, i have one for when i'm making a beat with the headphones. if you do these sortof things, then you know how much you have to tweak to get it to sound right. all you have to do is save it as a preset and give it a hotkey, and with the press of 1 button go from recording to mixing.. or whatever you want.like i said, if you really want to test the software, you might want to e-mail them and tell them if they need people that you would be interested.
its a beautiful design but it has 2 pieces of spyware in it, it doesnt effect the performance but it seems to be spyware that collects data so if u have something important on your pc, then dont use it.
compatibility with windows 7 - 64 bit ?
