ie 8 opinionquoting lakotaelf:"many of these reviews here are of no value at all for all they do is slam and give no details, wow, even a dope can do that."read your own review lakotelf and you will perhaps see that all it does is praise and gives no details, wow, even a dope can do that!! at the end of the day a browser needs to be user friendly not geek friendly and firefox and google chrome both do that (alhough googles customer support is not the greatest). in my experience ie 8 is a crock of "something less than good" and i actually prefer ie7. no details..rather like your review. but then i don't claim or infer that i'm an expert, just a user. personally i have uninstalled ie8 and will rely on firefox, chrome and ie7 (mostly chrome). to go a little further than you did in your less than informative post, i would simply say that the customer support experience after installing ie 8 left one hell of a lot to be desired, and customer service was something i required rather a lot of given the endless problems experienced with ie8. yes it may have been my configuration, but i sure as hell didn't receive any good information that would have led to me making an informed decision on that!
this is the pim manager.
no problems with this latest version, which has actually been available for months. running under win 7 32 & 64 bit.
am saddened to see an ad for viceversa pro on the interface of bru. not sure why, either. fortunately, flexible renamer's been updated sans ads!
here we go again. new version, new problems with things that used to work.all the 12.x releases have regressed with their flash performance. flash videos smear down the page when scrolling.sites that worked in 11.64 and 12.01 don't work here. also be warned that the bookmark star(address bar) instant crash is backon the bright side, it does feel quite a bit snappier. i know it's an early alpha but this new pattern of releasing broken major versions only to try and address them in a maintenance build soon after is not something i am enjoying having to deal with@zeropoint, major releases that became finals have been rather piss poor. 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12 were major releases that in "stable" form were anything but. the maintenance releases that followed them corrected some things that should have been in the finals in the first place. this alpha is heading in the same direction of breaking things while adding new "buggy" features. testing new things is fun but having things that worked before break is not very progressive. most people who are testing opera over at the blog are still using 11.64 as their main browser yet the opera team is moving towards another major release in an already broken version
this is a nice bulk file optimzier tool, it really does slim down and optimize files. however it has 2 critical flaws which needs to be fixed. things that could be improved:1.) the default setting is to remove metadata info. so for example on jpg files, the program strips out critical pieces of exif data from jpg files:exif-camera (date picture was taken)exif-origin (camera f-stop/exposure/iso)this is critical because if you want to rename your jpg files based on "date taken", it's stripped out and won't work.under "options" there is a checkbox "copy metadata". i recommend you enable it for all applicable file extensions. this really should be enabled by default.2.) there is no "abort" or "pause" button. you have to close out of the program to cancel operations. understandable as it uses multiple command line operations/plugins, but it'd be nice if it was possible to abort.other considerations:pdf/png/exe compression compression is slow, especially on dual core systems (ymmv) sometimes not worth the effort considering most pdf/png/exe files won't compress much further.keep in mind during processing, the program places originals in your recycle bin. so if you process 1 gb of data, it takes up 2gb of space (until you empty recycle bin)in some cases exe files also do self integrity checks on itself and related dll files. some cases it fails to run after compression. one example is winwgetportable, which failed nsis self integrity check after compression of both exe and dll files.tests:on a sample jpg photo created from a canon eos 60d (18 megapixels) it shrunk down the file size from 5.95 mb to 5.88 mb with no difference in picture quality, even zoomed up close. true to it's stated "lossless" description.on a sample pdf file, by default it downconverts to 150dpi, so images inside will slightly change when viewed close. setting to "prepress 300dpi" should make it virtually exact.conclusion:good program for squeezing every last drop of space from files, just make sure to backup first, exclude certain program directories, enable "copy metadata" for all extensions, enable "keep file attributes", and change pdf dpi to "prepress 300" under program options.
0.8.0.4. released. fixes one thing.
